Career Development Day

As part of our Project Pipeline initiatives, this year we launched our I-NOMA/NOMAS legacy series, as the success of NOMAS will be the legacy I-NOMA leaves behind.  This program aims to get as many NOMAS & I-NOMA members prepared and connected with professional design firms. In doing so, I-NOMA will walk college students and professionals through the do’s and don’ts of selecting an employer and writing a resume.  After this short talk, I-NOMA will give the floor to various design firms to introduce themselves to you through a series of 5mins talks. The remaining two hours, in a 5-10 min speed dating format, we will take your professional photos, conduct one-on-one resume reviews and one-on-one mock interviews with various design firms.  Please come prepared by RSVPing and bringing with you 15 copies of your resume & sample pages.

ATTIRE: PROFESSIONAL ATTIRE

PLEASE BRING 15 COPIES OF YOUR RESUME

*NON-NOMAS members, we recommend a $5 donation or non-I-NOMA members we are recommending a $10 donation. Donations will be collected at the door, all donations go to scholarships and award stipends

Project Pipeline Field Trip: SCJ Campus at Racine, WI

Frank Lloyd Wright fan’s cannot miss the chance to join us on a tour of the SC Johnson campus in Racine, Wisconsin. The innovative campus design features Wright’s vision of a new workplace environment and a Norman Foster designed Fortaleza Hall that anchors all the buildings with a contrasting light and transparent structure. After the workplace tour, the field trip will continue to the Wingspread house, a campus in itself that features Wright’s organic prairie style architecture but for a different but parallel environment. This urban planning intervention will begin to question the impact of architecture on our daily routines and lifestyles.

We welcome you to experience a combination of historic examples for working and living environments that are also looking towards the future of design. The tour will include a visit to the following buildings:

Administration Building

Research Tower

Fortaleza Hall

Wingspread

*Please RSVP to attend this event, lunch will be provided.
